Shopfront Improvement Program Grant

Increased funding available for local businesses!

The District Council of Elliston is pleased to announce an increase in funding available through its Shopfront Improvement Program, following a decision made by Council at the October 2026 Ordinary Council Meeting.

Council has agreed to increase the maximum grant amount from $2,000 to $3,000 (excluding GST) per eligible business, providing greater support for local businesses to improve their shopfronts and contribute to the presentation and appeal of our town centres.

The program aims to enhance the appearance of commercial buildings, encourage investment in local businesses and create welcoming, attractive streetscapes across the district.

How much funding is available?

Eligible businesses can apply for up to $3,000 (excluding GST) in dollar-for-dollar (1:1) matched funding, meaning Council will match the business's contribution towards approved improvements, up to the maximum grant amount.

For example, a business undertaking $6,000 worth of eligible improvements may receive $3,000 from Council, contributing the remaining $3,000 itself.

Businesses can also apply for smaller amounts depending on the scale of their proposed improvements.

Who can apply?

The program is open to businesses located within commercial areas of towns throughout the District Council of Elliston that have street frontage.

What improvements are eligible?

Funding may be used towards a range of shopfront improvements, including:

  • Painting or cleaning building façades
  • Removal of outdated signage, air conditioning units and hoardings
  • Minor repairs, maintenance or reinstatement of missing façade elements
  • Repairs to existing façade tiles, stone accents and awnings
  • Repairs or replacement of verandahs
  • Installation of new business signage

All proposed works must meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the program guidelines.
