Elliston Waste Transfer Station – Service Update
The Elliston Waste Transfer Station is currently undergoing important improvements to make the site safer, enhance the use of on-site shedding, and ensure it is easier and more convenient for residents to access.
Why has the schedule changed?
To allow these works to be completed effectively, and to ensure the site remains safe and accessible, the Transfer Station will temporarily operate on a fortnightly schedule instead of weekly until the end of September.
Normal weekly operating hours will resume from 1 October.
What’s being improved?
* Better site access: Crews are transporting road material to strengthen the pad and improve traffic areas, particularly where wet weather has caused issues.
* Smarter use of facilities: Council is reviewing how the storage shed can be better utilised for broader community and asset needs.
* Improved safety & operations: New site and traffic management plans are being developed to streamline how the site operates and to make visits safer for residents.
What this means for residents
* Waste drop-offs will now be accepted every second week until works are completed.
* Residents who need to dispose of waste outside of normal operating hours can book an appointment by contacting Council.
* Council will provide updates as works progress and will notify the community when weekly operations resume.
* These changes will help create a more efficient, safer, and longer-lasting facility for our community.
